Design students participate of practical activity

The third period Graphic Design and Interior Design of the University of Rio Verde – UniRV, did a practical activity of clay sculpting in the laboratory of Design Practices last week. The activity, part of the subject of Sculpting and Modelling, offered in both courses, was a creative way of practicing the skills developed by the professor as part of their pedagogical objectives.

According to professor Janiel Paraguai, it is a challenge for design professionals to think in three dimensions. A way of working on that is through 2D image transposition – initially thought of as drawings – to 3D modeling: “Through some meetings, the graphic design and interior design academics had a practical experience in clay modeling. Initially, they all made a relief in the shape of an eye, based on a drawing they had done themselves, and, later, the interior design students developed a functional sculpture and the graphic design students developed the sculpture of a character.

At the end of the modelling the sculptures were finished with ink and some students liked the results so much they posted it on social media.
