Municipal Council honors UniRV for its 50^th anniversary

This Tuesday evening, August 15, will forever stay in the memories of those who are a part of the trajectory of the university of Rio Verde, because of a ceremony to award the University of Rio Verde because of its 50-years of relevant work, an award that was granted by the Rio Verde Municipal Council. The ceremony, held at the Convention Center, was marked by the reencounters of current and retired professors and staff members.

To initiate the proceedings, which were presided by councilor Idelson Mendes, a celebratory video remembered everyone of the creation of the institution that became the Rio Verde Foundation for Higher Education – FESURV, UniRV’s maintainer. The documentary also showed the great achievements during this 50-year period, highlighting the importance of implementing the Medicine Course, the social work developed alongside the community and the investments in infrastructure that made UniRV a national reference.

The directive table was made up by the hosts, Idelson Mendes and the Rector, professor Alberto Barella Netto; the mayor of Rio Verde, Paulo do Vale; the first lady and secretary of Social Assistance, Lílian Maria do Vale and the vice-president of the city council, councilor Armando Fonseca Filho and the first secretary, councilor Soldier Fernando. All councilors and honorees of the evening were also a part of an honor tribune: former presidents and rectors.

The delivery of awards began with a unanimously approved award for the University of Rio Verde, publicly recognizing the history of the University. The title was handed by council president Idelson Mendes to the Magnificent Rector, who, in the ceremony represented everyone who belongs to the UniRV family.

The meeting was also marked by honors to the former directors at the institution for their important contributions to consolidating higher education in Rio Verde. Those honored were: Afonso Rodrigues do Carmo; Itamar José de Moraes; Maurício de Nassau; Clóvis Leão de Almeida; Múcio Bonifácio Guimarães; Alcyone de Souza Bernardes; Benjamin Spadoni; Lúcia Maria cunha Moni; Afonso Celso Borges; Sebastião Lázaro Pereira; Paulo Eustaquio Rezende and Sherlock Holmes da Silva, who was a municipal secretary at the time FESURV was created.

Speeches were very emotional and filled with historical moments, mentioning current and retired professors and staff members. In his speech, Alberto Barella greeted every city councilor for their initiative and for such an important moment, and thanked those who were managers before him. “It is a very happy and humbling moment, being able to see so many faces that are a part of our history present here today, and I am sure that just as I do right now, many of you are remembering UniRV’s path. For me it is a huge honor and present from God, being the Rector in the year we celebrate our fiftieth anniversary. The seed planted in 1973 has generated beautiful trees that bear countless good fruit until today, one of them being our UniRV family,” commented Barella.

Corroborating the Municipal Council’s initiative, mayor Paulo do Vale spoke on the importance of this ceremony and in honoring those who were essential in structuring this Municipal Foundation. “Today is a very special day. I wish to congratulate the Municipal Council’s initiative in honoring this University that is so important for Rio Verde, and that has also honored us repeatedly in Goiás, in Brazil and internationally. Every director, mayor and city councilor, as well as the entire society, have a significant contribution in making this history possible, for the university is a victory for society and something that all of us can feel proud for. Congratulations to our dear University of Rio Verde and to all of you who have contributed to the greatness of its history,” completed the Mayor.

Closing out the speeches, Idelson congratulated all the staff members for the construction of such a successful history, which has transformed Rio Verde in a higher education center. “This is a highly special moment in our lives and in the life of this city, being able to celebrate UniRV’s 50^th anniversary and thanking all men and women that were brave enough to begin the beautiful history of the University. You have our recognition for all the struggles and for not sparing your efforts so that this dream came true. Congratulations to the current and retired staff members for your importance contribution.” concluded the President.
