Global formation and Technical Graduation Board mark the third day of the Forum
With a schedule designed for debating ideas and exchanging knowledge, Abruem gathered, at UniRV, Rector from all over the country to continue the 69th Forum of the Association. Starting the morning activities, UniRV Law professor, Dr. Carolina Merida, presented the lecture “The role of public universities in forming global citizens: a standpoint from the UN’s sustainable development goal and human rights”, mediated by professor Lavínia Rosa Rodrigues, from the Minas Gerais State University.
Reinforcing the social responsibilities of Higher Education institutions in promoting inclusive actions and improving development processes, the professor, member of the Internationalization Committee for the University of Rio Verde, discussed the need for intercultural and global integration to elevate education quality, having research and extension as allies in producing effective actions for society.
“2030 Agenda tries to bring common values in a multicultural world, so, the role of universities is to translate these goals to broaden and explore aspects treated, most times, in a generalized manner. That is why human rights are important”, highlights Dr. Carolina Merida.
Raising their main doubts, Rectors took part of a debate that broadened the perceptions of each institution to build effective institutions, responsible and inclusive in all levels. Still during the morning, the Technical Graduation Board took place, presided by Rector Alexandre Almeida Weber – UNIOESTE, alongside Pro-Rector, Eurides Kuster Macedo Júnior, mediated by the Rector of the State University of Londrina, professor Marta Regina Gimezes Favaro.
Approaching the theme “Education for a Sustainable Development”, and emphasizing the challenges of education in graduation courses, mainly in the post-pandemic period, the technical board had a reflection on the actions that can be developed by each institution to make students go through every process of the course.
“Being here today, being able to discuss and advance the extension board, it is a great joy. The feeling of belonging of our academics and the knowledge that learning is beyond classrooms is a subject that need to be widely discussed”, highlighted the UNIOESTE Rector, professor Alexandre Almeida.
Emphasizing that a sustainable university is the one in which activities are ecologically, socially and culturally fair and economically feasible, the lecture presented a survey of the actions that are being applied in Abruem affiliated institutions, bringing the results of the ODS research surveys in higher education institutions.
Abruem’s 69th Forum gathered 47 institutions from 22 Brazilian states at the University of Rio Verde to widen debates and share expertise. “This is an important moment to develop Higher Education all over the country, for we are debating current subject that deserve national headlines. The Forum has a schedule designed for learning and sharing knowledge”, highlights UniRV’s Rector, professor Alberto Barella.
