Meeting of the Full Board presents the host institution of Abruem’s 70^th Forum

Finishing Thursday’s schedule, May 25, the meeting of the Full Board of the Brazilian Association of Municipal and State University Rectors (Abruem). The main subject was presenting the institution that will host the 70^th edition of the Association’s National Forum, which should happen between October 16 and 21, in Mossoró, Rio Grande do Norte.

The Rector of the State University of Rio Grande do Norte (UERN), host of the next edition, professor Dr. Cicília Raquel Maia Leite, showed the main riches of her city, known as the capital of Brazilian semiarid. It is considered the second most populous city in Rio Grande do Norte, with over 300 thousand inhabitants, and one of the biggest inland oil producers.

Historically, Mossoró was the place where, in 1927, took place the resistance of the famous “cangaceiro” in northeast Brazil, Virgulino Ferreira da Silva, popularly known as “Lampião”. The city has some cultural spaces, among them, museums and theaters. The most well-known tourist locations are: São Vicente Chapel, Santa Luzia Cathedral, São Sebastião Cemetery, Municpal Market and “Mercado do Bode”.

The meeting still served to debate administrative subjects, welcome representatives of new associates, answering questions and voting themes included in the meeting schedule. The meeting also planned Rectors’ participating in national and international events.

The Forum’s schedule continues this Friday, May 26, at 9am, with the following lectures: “the role of public universities in forming global citizens: a standpoint from the UN’s sustainable development goal and human rights”; “Mitigating evasion through effective permanence” and “The political comeback of CAPES Post-Graduation”.
