Faculty of Pedagogy promotes lecture on facing sexual violence

UniRV’s faculty of Pedagogy promoted an important lecture entitled “Facing sexual violence against children and teenagers, everyone’s duty”, presented by Rio Verde Prosecutor, Renata Dantas de Moraes e Macedo. Mediating the event was the Faculty of Pedagogy director, professor Ms. Eli Guimarães.

To initiate the event, the 7^th semester student, Larissa Barbosa, presented a very emotional musical piece, creating an atmosphere of sensitivity and reflection. The event had the active participation of the pedagogy board, made up of professors: Ms. Deusmaura Vieira Leão, Ms. Fábio Pereira Santana, Dr. José Reinaldo, Dr. Bruno Ribeiro, Ms. Regiane Freiberger, Ms. Aparecida Maira Rezende, Claudecir Gonçalves and Dr. Leoonardo Montes Lopes, demonstrating the engagement of future pedagogues in such an important cause.

Apart from the pedagogy academics, the ceremony also had the participation of Law students and other Faculties of the University of Rio Verde, showing the relevance and interdisciplinary reach the theme has. “This was a very rich moment, I am sure it added a lot in the lives of all participants. The faculty of Pedagogy is at the Prosecutor’s disposal in order to be a partner in facing sexual violence”, highlights director, Ms. Eli Guimarães.

During the lecture, prosecutor Renata Dantas de Moraes e Macedo presented a brief history of the Constitution, contextualizing the importance of protecting children’s and teenagers’ rights, approaching the National Plan for Facing Juvenile Sexual Violence, highlighting its role in raising awareness and seeking effective solutions.

A key factor presented by the prosecutor was the fundamental role pedagogues have, as well as schools, in identifying, protecting and reporting cases of sexual violence. She emphasized the need for educators who are aware to signs of abuse, trying to prevent and support victims. The lecture provided a place for reflection and learning, stimulating the academic community to get actively involved in the fight against juvenile sexual violence. By gathering students from different areas, the event promoted an interdisciplinary approach, broadening comprehention and empathy towards the severity of this social issue.
