A Faculdade de Psicologia realizou nesta quarta-feira, dia 17 de maio, uma Amostra sobre a importância da Luta Antimanicomial, com o objetivo de promover reflexão sobre o tema e alusiva ao Dia Nacional, celebrado em 18 de maio. O evento sob a coordenação do prof. Esp. Valdir Junior, juntamente com os alunos da disciplina “Psicologia da Saúde” do 7º período, buscou relatar sobre como a saúde mental foi vista e tratada ao longo dos anos, apresentando informações de hospitais psiquiátricos e suas funcionalidades; sobre a Reforma Psiquiátrica e sobre a perspectiva sociopolítica atual.

O movimento da Luta Antimanicomial foi marcado por lutas pelo direito daqueles indivíduos que possuíam transtornos mentais e que estavam institucionalizados e se caracteriza pelo combate à ideia de que pessoas em sofrimento mental devem ser isoladas do convívio social, buscando assim garantindo a elas, sem distinção, os direitos constitucionalmente instituídos, tais como, a saúde, a liberdade e a dignidade humana.

 

Na década de 1980, havia no Brasil cerca de 100 mil leitos em hospitais psiquiátricos, também chamados de hospícios ou manicômios. Com a aplicação da Reforma Psiquiátrica a partir de 2001 e o desenvolvimento da RAPS, que tem os Centros de Atenção Psicossocial (CAPS) como seu serviço mais conhecido, esses leitos foram sendo gradativamente fechados.

Para o professor, o tema do evento é um marco de grande importância para a formação acadêmica e social dos acadêmicos, relevantes para a formação crítica, científica e humana dos futuros profissionais psicólogos e “promove a consciência da realidade psicológica, sociocultural e jurídica da luta pela saúde mental,” comenta Junior.

Faculty of Psychology holds Show on the importance of the anti-asylum movement

The Faculty of Psychology held on Thursday, May17, a Show on the importance of the anti-asylum movement, with the objective of promoting reflections on the theme and alluding to the National Day, celebrated on May 18. The event, under the coordination of professor Valdir Junior, alongside students in the “Psychology and Health” subject, tried to relate how mental health had been view and treated through the years, showing information on psychiatric hospitals and their functionalities, on the Psychiatric Reform and on the current sociopolitical perspective.

The Anti-Asylum Movement was marked by struggles for the rights of those who have mental issues and that were institutionalized and characterizes itself by the fight against the idea that those undergoing mental suffering must be isolated from social life, thus trying to give them, without any distinctions, their instituted constitutional rights, such as health, liberty and human dignity.

In the 1980s there was around 100 thousand psychiatric hospital beds in Brazil, also called asylums or madhouses. With the Psychiatric Reform starting in 2001 and the development of the RAPS, that have Psychosocial Attention Centers (CAPS) as its most well-known service, these hospital beds have been disappearing continuously.

For the professor, the event’s theme is a very important mark to the academic and social formation of academics, significant to the critical, scientific and humane formation of the future psychologists and “promotes consciousness of the psychological, sociocultural and legal reality of the mental health struggle,” comments Junior.
