Rector strengthens international relations in trip to Spain
Concluding his series of visits to institutions in Europe, with the goal of strengthening Higher Education through partnerships in benefit of the academic community, the Rector of the University of Rio Verde, professor Alberto Barella, participated of a meeting with the Chief of the Higher Board of Sports in the Spanish Ministry of Culture and Sport, Jesús Mardaras Arrúe and with the Chief of Services, Cristina Calvo Rodriguez. The meeting is aligned with the intiatives of development and expansion of UniRV’s internationalization process, which progresses quickly, elevating the university’s name beyond Brazilian borders.
Highlighting the holding of university sporting events as an ally in socioeconomic development and the formation of professionals who are more conscientious, committed in meeting community needs. Jesús Mardaras showed the site’s infrastructure and talked to the UniRV committee, that, apart from the Rector, include the Pro-Rector of Post-Graduation, professor Claudemir Bertuolo; the Coordinator of the Communication Department, professor Ricardo Padilha, about projects that stimulate taking up sports and international mobility.
The meeting between the Rector of the University of Rio Verde and representatives of the Spanish Higher Board of Sports enables an opportunity of sharing experiences, practical improvements and knowledge in university sports. Spain has a solid sporting tradition, internationally recognized, which can give valuable insights and innovative ideas to enhance university sports in Rio Verde. Apart from this, the collaboration between the academic institutions and government bodies responsible for sports can lead to strategic partnerships and the development of sporting programs in the teaching facilities.
Constantly investing in quality of life programs and incentivizing academic participation in sport, UniRV has come to the forefront in the Higher Education scenario, and became the first Brazilian public institution to receive a Healthy Campus certificate. Better academic performance, concentration, cognitive development, anxiety control, creativity and stress reduction are just some of the countless benefits reaped by the commitment of the University’s management.
“I firmly believe that investing in university sports is investing in the integral development of our students and in strengthening our institution as a whole. The meeting with the Spanish Minister of Sports, Jesús Mardaras, strengthen even more our international relations”, comments Rector Alberto Barella.
