Faculty of Nursing holds Lamp Ceremony

A night marked by the emotion of celebrating the last steps in a five-year long journey. Wide smiles and honest hugs show the pride of each friend and relative who followed closely the mark in the lives of each Nursing graduate during the lamp ceremony.

Accompanied by their paranymphs, the fourteen made a triumphal entrance into the administrative block auditorium, initiating the celebration that took place this Wednesday, May 4, which seeks to reinforce Nursing’s meaning to aiding patients with dedication, love and patience.

The beautiful cultural presentation by the ballerinas from the Joana Angelis Association (AJA), involved the public and got a round of applause setting the tone for what was to come in what has become one of the most beautiful celebrations in the course.

In attendance to celebrate and honor the academics were the Vice-Rector, Dr. Arício Vieira da Silva, who on the occasion represented the Rector, professor Alberto Barella; the Pró-Rector of Student Affairs, professor Elton Brás; the director of the Faculty of Nursing, professor Dr. Berenice Moreira and the event coordinator, professor, Me. Camila Vilagran.

“This is a very special night for all of us. We are here to celebrate another achievement, that is why I want to thank the parents and our graduates for trusting UniRV in accomplishing this dream”, comments professor Dr. Berenice Moreira.

Sharing in victories side-by-side to those who we like is what makes everything even more special and, to show that not even distance is able of taking away the beauty of these moments the academics Isnanny Mescouto Cruz, Gabriela Santos Ferreira and Dominique Cerqueira, were surprised by videos with family members. The treat provided by the organizing committee filled everyone’s eyes with tears and warmed their hearts.

Looking to reinforce the profession’s principles, the lamp’s flame adopted in reference to Florence Nightingale, who during the Crimean War (1853-1856) worked as a volunteer in helping the wounded, later setting the bases for the nursing profession, was given to the students to illuminate their path.

“Congratulations to all the academics of the Faculty of Nursing for another step. Nursing is a profession that demands respect, commitment and a lot of dedication. I hope you can keep honoring the oath sworn tonight”, highlights UniRV’s Rector, professor Alberto Barella.
