Looking to promote exchange and strengthen the development of healthy practices by sharing experiences, the Rector of the University of Rio Verde – UniRV, professor Alberto Barella Netto, kicked off, this Thursday, May 4, the visitation schedule to international institutions. Accompanied by the Pro-Rector of Post-Graduation, professor Claudemir Bertuolo Furnielis, and the Coordinator of the Communication Department, professor Ricardo Padilha, the Rector got to know the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), a fellow Healthy Campus recipient, just like UniRV.

During the visit, the UniRV committee were welcomed by the Head of the Physical Activities Unit, Augustí Serra i Curtichs, who presented the institution’s initiatives designed towards sustainability, well-being and the health of the academic community. Still accompanied by Augustí, they took advantage of the date to visit the UAB campus facilities, which, similarly to UniRV, has an area of roughly 300 hectares and whose installations have as their main focus sustainability, health and quality of life for the academic community.

Just as UniRV in Brazil, UAB was the first University in Spain to obtain the Healthy Campus certificate, whose objective is to promote initiatives that contribute to the physical, mental and social health of students, through actions that promote healthy practices and well-being. A member of the Committee of Rectors for the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and spokesperson for over four thousand Brazilian and South American universities, the Rector Alberto Barella Netto highlights that reinforcing the partnerships with universities that are also a part of the Healthy Campus Program contributes to mutual growth and evidentiates the commitment to the quality of life of each staff member and academic of the University of Rio Verde.

UAB has an academic community of over 30 thousand people and quality of life and health programs that are an example for the entire Europe, and, because of this, this excellent institution, certainly has a lot to contribute to our UniRV".
