Music, lectures and book release highlight the final night of the Law Symposium
Around 900 people registered to participate of the XXVIII Legal Studies Symposium, among them academics, professors and professionals. The Symposium was created to promote legal-scientific and contemporary knowledge for students and enable the integration between participants and lecturers, bringing the professionals of the future to the marketplace.
The Symposium’s 28th Edition approached the theme of “Transdisciplinarity and Complexity: The connection that Builds the Future” and the program from its last evening started with the presentation of the musician and professor of the Faculty of Agronomy, Cláudio Barbosa. With a repertoire made up of great sertanejo hits, the artist brought joy to everyone in attendance, all of which sang along and gave him a round of applause after each “modão”.
To kick off the closing evening’s proposed themes, the lecture “CADEC in the Vertical Integration Contract” was presented by Judge Thiago Castelliano, by zootechnician Edson Kenji Ishikawa and the former president of the Goiás Farmer’s Committee of the Federation of Agriculture and Livestock, Vanda Rizzia Guimarães. The lecture focused on the role of the Committee for Following, Development and Integration Conciliation (CADEC).
The reason behind the creation of the Integration Law nº 13,288/2016 was one of the highlights from the lecture that also approached two factors that move the agrarian contract and reinforced the importance of academics to give special attention to the theme, since Rio Verde is inserted in a region moved by agriculture.
Zootechnician Edson Kenji approached the practice of the integration contract, commenting on the contractual relationship with industry and the integrated. Ishikawa also mentioned that Brazil is the biggest chicken exporter in the world and the 4th biggest exporter of pork. These are two of the region’s bottlenecks, regarding integration, that have many producing farms, which supply one of the biggest food companies in the world, with a plant in Rio Verde.
To wrap up the theme, Vanda Rizzia Guimarães is an integrated farmer and corroborated the speeches from her two colleagues, commenting on the beginning of the movement in order to create the law, a product of the association’s desires regarding the integrated people’s rights. She still reinforced the importance of looking to both side of the contract, the integrated and the company, in order to strengthen agribusiness. And she concluded by talking about CADEC’s important role.
Ending the schedule of lectures, UniRV professors Me. Elcio de Carvalho and Dr. Ricardo Fransischini talked about the theme “Infrastructure as a market moderating factor and food security”. The activity was also extended to the academics of the Faculty of Agronomy, taking advantage of the transdisciplinarity proposition, chosen for this 2023, first semester edition.
Fransischini began his presentation talking about the strength of agribusiness in the national economy and the importance Rio Verde and region have in food production, beginning the discussion on food security, that ranges from production, logistics, storage, commercializing and all the way until consumers’ tables. The professor shared data from the 2022 crop, which reached 272.5 billion tons of grain produced, comparing to the projections of this year’s crops, which shall be 312.5 million tons.
Elcio de Carvalho who has great expertise in agribusiness managing, completed the theme regarding production and storage structure, which directly influences in the security quality. He talked about the quantity of losses in this aspect, that currently adds up to 45.52% of this total percentage. The lecturer presented solutions to solve these problems, such as: data collection and analysis regarding the food system, adopting technologies and governmental incentives.
To close off the XXVIII Symposium of Legal Studies of the Faculty of Law, there was the release of the book: “Integration Contract: CADEC’s Evaluation in the Support of Judicial Decision Making”, from the Judge of and Civil Court of Jataí, Thiago Soares Castelliano Lecena de Castro. The book is a fruit of his Master’s dissertation in Agribusiness Law and Development, done at the University of Rio Verde.
The Master’s was idealized to perfect the knowledge of scientific research, with emphasis in the qualification of professionals already working in the market, thus incentivizing the creation of new technologies, processes and procedures, that directly impact the several areas connected to Agribusiness. The Course was approved together with the Coordination of Superior Level Staff Improvement (CAPES), in May of 2020, being the first Professional Master’s in the countryside of Goiás in the Law area and the first in agribusiness in Brazil.
The Symposium of Legal Studies happens twice a year and seeks to show the essence of the Faculty of Law, apart from giving participants the opportunity of reflecting on legislation and the current legal issues. “This is a long-awaited event for the entire academic community of the University of Rio Verde, that took advantage of the opportunity to come even closer to well known professionals in the marketplace. The Law Symposium is essential to build the strengthening of careers”, emphasizes the Rector, professor Alberto Barella Netto.
