With over seven thousand visitors, UniRV’s booth surpasses expectations
With ample programming made up of lectures and agriculture dynamics, the booth of the University of Rio Verde at the technological fair had spaces where one could, follow closely, the propositions regarding the theme “bioinputs” in agriculture. There was also an exhibition of soybean crops, in which visitors where able to see the action of the biological agents in two plant growth situations, and also, a support lab for observation, through a microscope or through the naked eye, of the growth of isolated bacteria.
To show the animal reproduction technology, the booth offered, to the public, two mannequins that allow for the practice of reproductive techniques similar to those done on a real animal. Two never-before-seen experiences were prepared to broaden the knowledge of the Veterinary Medicine students and professionals in the area. One of them is the model for artificial insemination, which allows for the contact with the structures and functioning of the process. The other presents a prototype of a pregnant cow, with a life-like calf, demonstrating the performance of eutocic and dystocic labors. The experience allowed people to learn the proper way of turning an animal inside the mother and performing the delivery.
The whole structure, prepared for this celebratory edition of Tecnoshow, served as a tool to awaken, in elementary and high school students, the knowledge of the agribusiness professions. The 10-year-old Maria Júlia Antunes took advantage of the Faculty of Medicine site to learn a bit more of the profession she has already chosen: “I’ve learned many things, I was very happy. I really like animals and I want to be a vet to have the chance of helping the little animals,” comments the student who was a part of the group of over 100 students that came from Santa Helena de Goiás.
In her second year of high school at Colégio Estadual Rafael Nascimento, Gabriella Ferreira Silva took advantage of the space of the University of Rio Verde to take some photos and get up to date on the information provided by the advisors in each activity. “We came from Montividiu to do a school report the teacher asked of us, and we are taking photos of cool things at the fair. It is very interesting to get to know the microbiology lab and hear the information,” she stated.
From Santa Helena de Goiás, the manager, Vanderlúcia Raya took the students from Escola Municipal Pedro Romualdo Cabral to see this year’s novelties and went by the institution’s booth to enjoy the programming. “We are going through the science places; it is very rewarding to be at UniRV’s booth and see that the university always has our children’s future in mind,” adds Vanderlúcia.
To welcome all this crowd, the booth of the university of Rio Verde prepared a welcoming space, filled with novelty. The site was enlarged with two more tents than last year, increasing its capacity to 55 people. The institution’s space still had a structure put together to show the Master’s programs in Plant Production and in Agribusiness Law and Development.
Apart from the actions prepared by the Faculties of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine, the daily schedule still presented 3D printing, making parts and tools used in machines and agriculture equipment as well as the development of prosthetics for small and large animals. All of which had the participation of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
The lectures, the booth’s flagship, were carefully though out to approach the more current themes in the agribusiness market. Subjects such as: biological control of insects and plagues in agriculture, phosphate fertilizing and context of phosphorous soluble, evaluation of commercial food for production animals, as well as a roundtable on the management of opening areas, which discussed the preparation of the soil, cover crops, soil biology and crop positioning. The attractions were completely full and had plenty of interactions with the professionals that were present.
UniRV’s contribution to CTC
Apart from the booth that was carefully prepared to receive professionals, academics and visitors to the Fair, the University of Rio Verde also offered a contribution to the overall schedule of the event, with lectures presented by professors in auditorium 4 of Comigo’s Technological Center (CTC). Talking about organic matter and soil quality in conservation management systems, professor Dr. Rose Luíza Moraes Tavares opened the lecture cycle on Tuesday morning, March 28.
During the afternoon, professor Dr. GIlmar Oliveira Santos talked about climate changes and trends and their impact on soybean and corn production, presenting results of more than 50 years of weather monitoring. He showed that the climatic changes are not a distant threat and that, in Rio Verde, there was a 1,9ºC temperature increase, 6.5% relative air humidity decrease, a trend towards less rain and increase in water deficit in the soil.
To close out the subjects discussed in the CTC auditorium, the student from the Master’s program in Agribusiness Law and Development, Moacyr Ribeiro da Silva Netto, talked about receiverships for farmers. On the same day, professor Dr. Juliana Silva Rodrigues Cabral presented two uses of microorganisms for mitigating drought in grain production.
Technical visit promotes the exchange of knowledge and field experience
The traditional Fair, that this year reaches its 20th edition, is responsible for a positive in many different sectors that move the local economy. On the days that Tecnoshow take place, the hotels in Rio Verde and neighboring cities such as Jataí, Santa Helena de Goiás and Montividiu, get a 100% occupation rate, and according to the Secretary for Economic Development of Rio Verde, the Technological Fair bring an increase of 12.4% in the city’s taxes, that happens because segments such as restaurants increase their services in upwards to 250% during the week of the event.
The positive impact also happens in the careers of those studying Agronomy or Veterinary Medicine, since professors take advantage of the scenario to carry out technical visits and special classes benefitting from the various themes and of the many multinational companies present at the event. This way they promote the update of technological innovation and create networking opportunities for academics.
Aware of the importance of such updates, professors Dr. Alessandro Guerra da Silva and Dr. Antônio Joaquim Braga Pereira Braz took their classes to several booths. “The idea of taking the academics to the booths is to complete the subjects discussed in the classroom. Tecnoshow exhibits what there is in more technological in the market and, to enjoy this diversity in themes, we bring the academics,” says Guerra.
The partnership between the University of Rio Verde and Tecnoshow Comigo started in the very first edition of the event, back in 2002, a period when the institution’s research already offered a significant contribution to agribusiness. A successful participation, once again, UniRV, in 2023, offered 16 lectures and brought in over sever thousand visitors to its booth. “Another expressive UniRV participation at Tecnoshow, showing that this partnership is still solid and effective. Congratulations to everybody involved for their efforts and dedication and congratulations to Comigo for another successful edition. We are waiting for everyone, once again, during April 8 to 12, 2024”, concluded the Rector, professor Alberto Barella Netto.
