Lecture cycle is the highlight of UniRV’s booth on Tecnoshow’s second day
The booth of the University of Rio Verde at the 2023 Tecnoshow Comigo has attracted the public to an ample space, welcoming and filled with innovation. With two extra tents this year, UniRV has prepared a diverse programming designed for academics, farmers and visitors who are interested in getting to know, in practice, the actions developed by the institution.
The lectures were the highlight of the second day at UniRV’s booth. The lecture “Evaluation of commercial food for production animals”, presented by the professor of veterinary medicine, Dr. Chayanne Silva Ferreira, kicked off the morning activities. She was followed by the lecture presented by the Agronomy professor, Dr. Mayara Cristina Lopes, who talked about “Biological Control of Insects and Pests in Agriculture”.
Attached to UniRV’s booth, the auditorium got even more prestige from the enlargement of the installations and with the additional capacity, now of over 55 visitors, who follow the presentations closely, with a light, laid-back, and full of information, chitchat. During the presentations from the institution’s professors, visitors were able to interact through questions or by bringing up themes to be discussed.
For the seventh period Agronomy academic, Luiz Felipe Menezes, the university’s participation in the event, that is considered the great rural technology fair of the Brazilian Midwest, is important for student development, in the construction of a solid professional career, apart from giving the opportunity of having direct contact to the market and its real necessities. “I am a part of the course’s academic directory and during the entire week I will be at the University’s booth helping and participating of the activities. This year, UniRV came even “stronger” and it is noticeable looking at the booth that has grown a lot in relation to the previous year”.
Sharing the same opinion, Lucas Paiva, an Agronomy student, reinforces that no professional survives only from theory and that the practice is a decisive factor in the professional construction. “This year the booth has renewed itself, so, everybody that comes here with the interest of getting to know the university ends up coming out even more impressed. Tecnoshow opens up a wide array of opportunities, not only in agronomy, but in several areas”, comments the sales representative of the academic directory.
During the afternoon, the biggest highlight was the roundtable “Management in opening areas: soil preparation, fertilizing, cover crops, soil biology and crop positioning”, moderated by professor Dr. Nelmício Furtado da Silva and presented by professors: Dr. Alessandro Guerra da Silva; Dr. Charles Barbosa Santos; Dr. Juliana Silva Rodrigues Cabral and Dr. Veridiana Cardozo Gonçalves Cantão.
“The choice of the theme came up with the necessity of discussing the management of opening areas, in a broad way, giving opportunity for showing the different existing techniques in relation to this area. This is why we seek to align a group of professors that can answer the most frequently asked questions”, highlights professors Dr. Charles Barbosa. The opening of an area for agricultural cultivation consists on preparing the terrain, on a physical and chemical standpoint, so that it can receive the crops.
For professor Dr. Alessandro Guerra, the roundtable involved many themes and is a much-awaited discussion among people in the sector: “During the presentation we had professors of different areas, because it is a complex subject that approaches extensive offshoots. For students this is a differentiator for they were able to discuss something more applicable”, highlights the professor.
“Our booth at Tecnoshow seeks to promote the contact between academics and the professionals of the area, as well as bringing farmers closer to the University of Rio Verde, putting the power of research in the limelight”, comments UniRV’s Rector, professor Alberto Barella. UniRV’s booth schedule will last until Friday, March 31, and will have the participation of the Faculties of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine, as well as the Master’s in Plant Production and Agribusiness Law and development.
