Pedagogy professors publish books in book signing event
On the night of this Wednesday, March 22nd, friends, family and colleagues of professors Dr. Leonardo Montes Lopes and Dr. Bruno de Oliveira Ribeiro, both from the Faculty of Pedagogy of the University of Rio Verde – UniRV, met at the Block 1 auditorium (Administrative block) to celebrate the publication of their books.
Developed from their doctorate thesis, the books “School Library, reality, pathways and possibilities,” written by professor Leonardo and “Who is black in Brazil? Affirmative action and the government of differences” written by professor Bruno, approach, through their research, important themes for society, showing the need to expand the debate in their areas.
The event had the participation of UniRV’s Vice-Rector, professor Dr. Arício Vieira da Silva, who on the occasion was representing the Rector, professor Alberto Barella; of professor Seane Mendes Furtado, representing the Municipal Secretary of Education of Rio Verde, and of professor Ana Luiza de Lima, representing the Rio Verde Academy of Literature.
Emotional over the release, in front of his wife, father and daughters, professor Dr. Leonardo Montes thanked everyone for their cooperation in the development of his thesis, that originated the book, and reinforced the importance of incentivizing studies. The professor also highlighted the participation of libraries in the formation and construction of readers.
“The book analysis libraries in the cities of Rio Verde (GO) and Londrina (PR), but reflects the national reality of libraries. The strengthening of reading spaces is everyone’s duty; the government needs to invest in this area, but society must also be aware of the importance of such places for its development”, comments the author of the book School Libraries.
Restating the partnership between the professors, who have already produced articles and books together, professor Dr. Bruno de Oliveira evidenced the joy in sharing the night with the colleague. Approaching, as the object of his studies, the criteria for defining the black subjects for affirmative action policies in Brazilian public universities, the book “Who is black in Brazil?” presents objective data collected from 2016 to 2020.
“Both books, mine as well as professor Leonardo’s, have an important militant aspect, because when you dedicate yourself to the study of a specific project, that, in some way, affects you. So, this night celebrates the research and work of many years”, stated professor Bruno. The evening, that was an opportunity to present the books to UniRV’s students and staff, ended with book signings and photos.
