Faculty of Nursing holds III White Coat Ceremony

This Wednesday (1^st), at Lauro Martins Theater, the III White Coat Ceremony of the Faculty of Nursing of the University of Rio Verde – UniRV. The event happens every semester and symbolizes the beginning of the academic trajectory of each future health area professional.

After being accepted to the university, participating of the ceremony and putting on a white coat for the first time is one of the most awaited moments by academics, that get the piece of clothing from friends and family or important people that share in this achievement and rejoice with the first steps in their 5-year academic journey. This transition act to the health universe tries to emphasize the respect to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and showing the care, cleanness and concern with health in the working environment.

The ceremony, highlighted by emotion, got even more special with the performance from the ballerinas of the Joanna de Angelis Child Support Association. On the occasion, the Rector of the University of Rio Verde, professor Alberto Barella; the Vice-Rector, professor Dr. Arício Vieira da Silva; the director of the Faculty of Nursing, professor Dr. Berenice Moreira; and the representative of the Organizing Committee of the event, professor Camila Antunez Villagran, were responsible for conducting the ceremony, welcoming and congratulating the academics for this other step.

“This white coat represents the care you take with your working environment and, from this day on, it becomes a part of your lives. Congratulations on being accepted. A ship is made do sail, don’t keep yourselves moored to the harbor!”, said the Rector, who thanked the students for choosing UniRV. He also presented, first hand, the celebratory logo for the 50^th anniversary of the University of Rio Verde, which will take place in March.

According to professor Dr. Berenice Moreira, the Faculty of Nursing has already graduated 570 nurses and has become a reference in forming excellent professionals. “We are gathered here today to celebrate and share in this important moment in the lives of the 66 students that chose UniRV to make their dreams come true, by becoming a health professional. Florence Nightingale used to say that Nursing is an art and that doing it as an art requires an exclusive devotion and rigorous preparation. So, I say, apply yourselves and count on us.”

Eyes brimming with tears, wide smiles and tight hugs, all gave the dimension of what this moment meant to each students’ lives. For academic Inaê Ferreira Borges, the ceremony was even more significant because she got here white coat from the hands of here little brother Lucas Miguel. “It’s exciting to participate in such a moment as this, because this achievement is not only mine; it is a job that involves many people that walk besides me,” highlighted the student.

The ceremony of the Faculty of Nursing marked the first of a series of nine White Coat ceremonies that will take place this semester, by the different health courses of the Institution. Today, the 2^nd, it is the Physiotherapy students’ turn and, on Friday (3^rd), the Faculty of Medicine of the Rio Verde Campus will have its White Coat Ceremony.
