Os Cuidados Paliativos são cuidados direcionados para pacientes com difícil controle e manejo de sintomas devido a diagnósticos de doenças crônicas, ameaçadoras de vida, progressivas e incuráveis, além de serem direcionados também para pacientes em fim de vida. Para trabalhar o tema e preparar os acadêmicos para o enfrentamento do cenário, a Faculdade de Enfermagem realizou, na terça-feira, dia 18 de abril, uma aula especial com a psicóloga especialista na área, Jordana Borges.

A atividade foi preparada para as turmas do 3° período e enfatizou que esse cuidado é centrado na pessoa e não somente na doença, sendo ofertado por uma equipe multidisciplinar, em que o paciente e sua família são cuidados de forma holística, dentro das dimensões: física; social; emocional e espiritual. Contando um pouco da história da jornalista e escritora Ana Michele, diagnosticada com um câncer de mama invasivo, em 2011, uma das grandes debatedoras do tema “Cuidados Paliativos não é sobre morrer, é sobre como viver até lá”, explica Ana Michelle Soares.

“O enfermeiro tem a responsabilidade de manter um contato mais direto com o paciente e a família, atuando como um mediador, muitas vezes de forma permanente, por isso, a importância de compreender o conceito de Cuidados Paliativos, criado em 2002 pela Organização Mundial de Saúde. Parabéns à Faculdade pelo cuidado na formação dos nossos acadêmicos,” completou o Reitor, professor Alberto Barella Netto.

Nursing Academics participate of activities on Palliative Care

Palliative Care are actions directed to patients with symptom control and management due to chronic, life-threatening, progressive and uncurable illnesses, apart from being directed to patients in the end of life as well. To talk about the theme and prepare the academics to face the scenario, the Faculty of Nursing did, on Tuesday, April 18, a special class with a psychologist specialized in the area, Jordana Borges.

The activity was prepared for the 3^rd period classes and emphasized that this care is centered on the person and not only on the disease, being offered by a multidisciplinary team, in which the patient and their family are taken care holistically, inside the physical, social, emotional and spiritual dimensions. Telling a little of the story of journalist and writer Ana Michele, diagnosed with an invasive breast cancer, in 2011, one of the great debaters on the subject “Palliative Care in not about dying, it’s about living until getting there”, explains Ana Michelle Soares.

“Nurses have the responsibility of keeping a more direct contact with the patient and the family, acting as a mediator, many times permanently, that is why it is important to understand the concept of Palliative Care, created in 2002 by the World Health Organization. Congratulations to the Faculty for its care in forming our academics,” completed the Rector, professor Alberto Barella Netto.
