Technical visit follows the implementation of the Food Analysis Laboratory
Through a partnership between the University of Rio Verde – UniRV, the 5th State Attorney’s Office of Rio Verde and the Municipal Secretary of Agriculture, a Microbiological Food Analysis Lab is being installed, at UniRV, in an attempt to structure the Municipal Inspection Service (SIM), that inspects the quality of food produced in Rio Verde.
To keep track of the installations in Block 4, last Tuesday, March 21st, there was a technical visit to the site. Participating in the visit were: prosecutor, Márcio Lopes Toledo; the Municipal Secretary of Agriculture, Paulo Martins da Silva; professor Me. Nilda Maria Alves, activity coordinator; and representatives from UniRV and other organs.
According to the prosecutor, the project was designed to fulfill the city’s needs and will have the support of the University, benefiting the academic community and society in general: “The idea of building this lab came from the need to structure the Municipal Inspection Service to assess the quality of the food produced here. This project has the participation of the University, which has a history of working alongside the community, as well as an excellent teaching staff.”
For the Municipal Secretary of Agriculture, the partnership between the City, State Attorney’s Office and UniRV is a mark in history and will also offer safety to society when it comes to food inspections: “It is a lab that is already ready to fulfill not only SIM’s demands, but also the demands from the region, that will be able to test food quality. Congratulations to the University of Rio Verde that will have another space for their students’ practical classes and, once again, will be able to help the community”.
According to the coordinator of the activities of the new lab, Nilda Alves, the University has specialized professors that will work in this lab and fulfill a need of the entire region, in relation to food microbiological analysis: “It will be an important space for research and internships for those who wish to follow this career path; Rio Verde does not have any structure for this type of analysis of the produced foods.”
The inauguration of the Microbiological Food Analysis Lab is scheduled for the end of the first semester of 2023 and the structure already has almost 100% of the equipment and furniture installed: “The University of Rio Verde worries itself with its social role in the development of actions and partnerships in collective projects such as this”, restates the Rector, professor Alberto Barella Netto.
