Roundtable on the feminine experience crowds auditorium during International Women’s Day
Looking to share experiences in a light and relaxed chitchat, female professors, students and alumni from the University of Rio Verde – UniRV, gathered together in the Block I (Administrative) auditorium, to discuss personal and professional experiences and the everyday challenges for women. The initiative, created in order to celebrate and raise awareness of the March 8th date, restated the struggle towards respect and equality.
Celebrating the active presence of the women who make UniRV, professor Dr. Eliene Aparecida de Morais welcomed, congratulated and highlighted the date as a political act as well. “March 8th is also useful so that we might rethink important topics in the search for new achievements We must keep fighting in order to reach equality between men and women”, she commented.
The 7th period Medicine student, from the Rio Verde Campus, Ana Beatriz Viana Gouveia, was responsible for conducting the roundtable that also had the participation of the doctors and UniRV professors, Belise Vieira Evangelista da Rocha, Júlia Vasco Tezo de Almeida and Uiara Riois Pereira.
Promoted by the Pro-Rectory of Student Affairs (PRAE), the event happened simultaneously in the Rio Verde, Formosa and Goianésia Campuses, all of them with the goal of honoring women and debating important topics to the construction of a more just and equal society, stimulating the protection and following the law, and cultural diversity.
“The University is always engaged in debating relevant themes to society. As a teaching center, we create professionals prepared for the workplace, but more than anything, we highlight the necessity for respect to all”, said the Pro-Rector, professor Dr. Elton Brás.
The roundtable was part of the special program prepared by the University of Rio Verde regarding the date of March 8th, a day that started by handing out flowers to the institution’s departments and giving back the care and effort of each staff member in the construction of UniRV’s history. Apart from distributing roses, a video with the participation of female professors, academics and staff members of the University, highlighting what it is to be a woman, was produced as a way of honoring what they do for UniRV.
“A few years ago, we created this tradition of handing out flowers to our female staff members on March 8th, with the intention of showing our gratitude towards each and everyone of them. We are made of the sum of many people and only because of this we can walk in the right direction. Happy International Women’s Day”, concludes the Rector, professor Alberto Barella.
