Rector will be a part of CBDU’s National Council of Higher Education Institutions

In face of the return of the University of Rio Verde - UniRV to university sports and the fundamental role of the current administration in fomenting sport activities, which culminated in teams taking part of state and national competitions, the Brazilian Federation of University Sports (CBDU), invited the Rector, professor Alberto Barella Netto to be a part of the National Council of Higher Education Institutions (IES National Council), representing UniRV.

IES National Council is a consulting body that supports Brazilian university management, treating issues related to foment and development of the Brazilian university movement, bringing to the debate the perspectives and positions of the country’s Higher Education Institutions, being made up of five institutions and renewed annually. The criteria to select the Council are based on CBDU’s IES Ranking, established by the Efficiency Trophy, choosing the main public and private Institutions.

The invitation to be a part of the National Council came from UniRV’s good position in CBDU’s IES Ranking, established by the Efficiency Trophy, 2022 season, whcich was handed to the Institution during the Federation’s Best of the year ceremony, held in Brasília in March of 2022, awarding the best athletes, State University Federations and Higher Education Institutions of the previous year, as well as institutions, public bodies, personalities and public servants that contribute to the partnership in developing university sports in Brazil.

Responsible for rescuing the Institution’s university sports, Alberto Barella is already a part of the Commission of Rectors of the Americas’ International University Sports Federation (FISU), since November of 2021, being the spokesperson for over 4 thousand Brazilian universities and universities in the Americas, for the development of university sports.

Since taking office in January 2021, the Rector has made significant investments to incentivizing sports in the academic environment, partaking in the Healthy Campus project, established and developed by FISU, becoming the first Brazilian institution to get the certificate that attested the actions implemented in every campus.

To the Rector, receiving the invitation to be a part of the National Council crowns all the actions and projects created to foment and give incentive to sports, since the beginning of his tenure and the return to the university sports national scene. “I feel honored in receiving this invitation from CBDU, first because it means that the investments that are being made in university sports have borne fruit, and also for the important opportunity of leveraging UniRV’s name among the other sport Institutions. I Thank CBDU, in the name of its president Luciano Cabral, for the recognition and opportunity of doing more for university sports,” thanked Barella.

Aware of the incentive actions to sports practice and of the great example that is the University of Rio Verde to university sports, Luciano Cabral assess as being a positive thing that UniRV has joined the Council and the Rector’s contributions to the other Institutions. “It is an honor that professor Alberto Barella has accepted our invitation to be a part of the IES Council. This invitation comes as a result of the Universities’ achievements. The council is divided in Public and Private Higher Education Institutions so that we can have balance, searching for different regions of Brazil so that they might bring their scenarios and in the expectation that the rectors present their desires and their expectations regarding university sports, contributing to the construction of the program,” he said.
