“Pranking Freshmen”

Regarding the case released in social media of violent acts endured by an Agronomy student, the University of Rio Verde - UniRV laments what has happened and vehemently repudiates the unethical conduct of the veteran students. Furthermore, it states that the acts took place outside the University premises and, because of that, has no jurisdiction to restrain someone, being able, thus, after formalizing the facts with UniRV’s administration, which has been done by the harmed party, the installation of a disciplinary procedure that might result in the expelling of those involved.

It also informs that there is an Internal Ordinance, since 2006, which prohibits any manifestations in the University premises regarding freshmen reception and pranks that might result in bodily or moral harm, consisting of a severe infraction with disciplinary sanctions as establishes the University’s General Regiment.

Every semester all coordinators and security guards of the University are updated in relation to the Ordinance, in the sense of advising veteran students on the administrative and judicial responsibilities in case they go against the regulations.

UniRV’s directing body reiterates its repulsion towards what was done and restates that ethics is a routine subject in students’ formation at the Institution, where we seek to establish that academic life must be lived in respect to fellow man, based in virtues focused in reflexive knowledge and attitudes that generate good.
